Screen Play

Architecture: Kreis Grennan

Construction: SAGO Build

A collaboration with Kreis Grennan Architects, built around a simple idea: let the screen do the work. Sliding timber screens sit across the window line, giving the house control over light and privacy which shift throughout the day, the seasons and the life of the home.

The timber is left to weather — no coating standing between the material and the coastal air of Bondi. Over time the grain silvers and the house settles further into its setting, ageing the way the coastline nearby does.

A comprehensive renovation across three storeys, the project leans on the existing structure wherever it can. Reusing what was already there kept the build efficient, while freeing up scope and budget for the moves that mattered most.

Screens that shift with the day — privacy and light, always in play.
