Lachlan Delaney

Director

Registered Architect (NSW 9418)

I was drawn to residential architecture as a result of my upbringing in a humble yet architect-designed house in Sydney's Inner West, a building which retained its Victorian-era character while transforming its living spaces into a social and uplifting home. My interest was nurtured through my earliest professional experience working alongside Rick Leplastrier, one of Australia's architectural masters with an affinity for Japan, who taught me that the home should be the setting for the sacred dance of daily life.

Now, with over a decade of professional experience in residential architecture, I am constantly honing the craft of what it means to design a home: a carefully considered process that places our clients and their families at the centre of our work. Every Sago project benefits from my practical applied experience, my lateral and strategic thinking, a commitment to quality design and clear communication.

Design Manager

Registered Architect (NSW 11082)

I grew up in Canberra and I was drawn to architecture because my father is an architect. He worked on large projects like New Parliament House but I was always attracted to the intimate nature of residential architecture. To me, the home is so important: it needs to combine beauty and functionality and also be feasible within the constraints of what a family needs and can afford.

I know I've done my job well when clients move into their completed house and get in touch to share how they appreciate some of the small details or the extra thinking that we put into the project. It's those details that really elevate an architecturally designed house to something special.

One of the aspects of working at SAGO that I enjoy the most is the access we have to construction knowledge and experience right there within the team. We give early strategic advice, refine our design and make sure we're spending energy and resources for the right result across the project. The continuity of being able to follow the design of a home from idea to concept to technical documentation through to construction is very rewarding for us, but also a really enriching process for the families we work with.

Brendan Worsley

Director

Licensed Builder (NSW 309679C) & Registered Architect (NSW 9127)

Residential architecture is important to me because it celebrates family life, the everyday and the personality of those that live there. I love the life-enhancing impact of design and build because I am inherently curious about how things are made: the expression of a clever idea, the honesty of materials and the process to get there.

As both a registered architect and a licensed builder, I enjoy merging my natural design instinct with the pragmatism of being a builder. My job is to ensure the sound execution of the architectural idea while taking on the construction reality that comes with it.

I am interested in revealing the process of construction or fabrication and making it a key feature in the design. I am an instinctive project manager, with over a decade experience delivering beautiful designs into real life outcomes. I keep the process moving forward, tracking progress and cost meticulously and resolving architectural detailing and quality control along the way.
